A Practical Guide to Supporting a Parent with Dementia
This course was developed to support adult children navigating the early signs and progression of dementia in a parent. Inspired by personal experience, the course addresses a common gap: families often struggle to distinguish normal aging from cognitive decline and to make informed decisions about care, safety, and support. The learning experience is designed to provide practical, accessible guidance across the continuum—from early symptom recognition through caregiving and long-term planning.
The course uses a scenario-based approach to promote application and decision-making. Short video vignettes and interactive activities allow learners to evaluate realistic situations, explore care options, and apply strategies to support both the individual with dementia and the caregiver. Content is intentionally structured to balance emotional awareness with actionable guidance, ensuring learners leave with both increased confidence and concrete next steps.
